This place, that place by *x-outsider-x:iconx-outsider-x:

The air seems so simple -
open, empty, light
it rolls and floats with buoyant charm
never ceasing its formless flow

Above, the sky

below, the harsh constructions of small minds
the place where damage is incurred
debts are tallied up and never repaid
duties are compounded in ever greater total

I choose the upper quadrant -
leave the downside to the ones who crave order
there's no need for instruction or rulebooks
not when you've found a world of new impermanence

This place makes you float in wonder -
that place seals you in with brick and business deals.

The open sky seems much more hospitable to me.

Written after much reflection on the kind of life we live.

Omg.. I can soooooo relate to this! Sometimes now when I walk in the streets, I actually began to notice the sky... and now it feels so much closer, and I feel like I'm looking into another world... better not do that while crossing the streeet!!

The sky is another place... We can choose to live wherever we want.

Brilliant use of contrast. Brilliant. It was very shocking: the buildings and the harsh, concrete reality, after the soft, fluid air. Brilliant.

That's beautiful. :) It reminds me of some old sayings my mom used to say, and just the world in general.

Thank you! I was aiming for contrast. Trying to get the wording right, between simple and concrete, that was a chore. I hope I did the theme justice.

this is wonderful :)
I guess being a person who enjoys floating in wonder makes me a little biased.

Why thank you!
It's best to float in wonder. There's always something magical to find, if you know where to look :)
