Goodbye again tonight by *x-outsider-x:iconx-outsider-x:

You're just like some old song that I keep singing
your melody and wording always right
yet perfection ends as quick as its beginning
so I'm telling you goodbye again tonight

You're just like some old song that I keep singing
all about a dance by candelight
yet we both know this flame is slowly dying
so I'm telling you goodbye again tonight

You're just like some old song that I keep singing
the crooner tells of life and love so bright
yet darkness now is muting words he's mouthing
so I'm telling you goodbye again tonight

You're just like some old song that keep singing
one that doesn't leave my head, though try I might
yet time is known to tarnish tunes so winning
so I'm telling you goodbye again tonight.

Deep. And very depressing, yet in a way, hopeful... but mostly depressing. I like it, good work.

In complete opposition to the above comment, I don't find this depressing, rather, it speaks of knowledge and the deeper knowledge that things will be alright even if present circumstances are unsatisfying. You seem to be saying that what happens now is for the good of later times.

Absolutely perfect analysis of this :)

I love the melody (or rather the tempo?) - it makes me think of someone dancing... kind of as a way to say goodbye. Kind of fits our discussion recently, ne? :)
